LEGOLAND Discovery Centre recruits mini LEGO builders for dream opportunity

The search is over! Four Melbourne children have won a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity (and playground bragging rights!) after being named LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Melbourne’s newest mini LEGO builders.

Mingkun Chen (6), Phoebe Guidera (6), Levi Wiki (7) and Aidan Rhys Fernandes (10) have today been appointed as the attraction’s 2018 Mini Model Builders. The LEGO loving youngsters were declared victorious after competing in Australia’s inaugural LEGO Masters event today – a children’s LEGO building competition.

The bricks were flying when forty of the nation’s most passionate little LEGO fans put their brick-building and creativity skills to the test, competing in a series of LEGO challenges throughout the day. The children, aged between 4-12 years, were handpicked from hundreds of hopeful applicants who submitted video entries to contend for one of the Mini Model Builder spots.

The competition was judged by LEGOLAND Discovery Centre’s Master Model Builder, David Holder, who was impressed by the creativity and enthusiasm displayed by the junior contestants.

“We’re very excited to extend our congratulations to our 2018 Mini Model Builders - and to the talented crew of junior competitors who joined us for today’s event at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre. It was fantastic to see the children having fun and showing off their LEGO building tips and tricks while being cheered on by their friends and families,” said David Holder.

Mingkun, Phoebe, Levi and Aidan were all declared as the 2018 Mini Model builders after wowing the judges with their passion – and some very impressive LEGO models (including a turtle, a giraffe – and even a life-like replica of one of the winner’s practising karate!).

The four junior recruits will have the opportunity to attend exclusive building workshops and preview events at the Melbourne attraction over the next twelve months.

The newly-appointed Mini Model Builders were also presented with a LEGO-made trophy and will enjoy some bricktastic prizes including unlimited entry to the attraction for a year and a free birthday party hosting up to 20 of their friends or a free school excursion for their class.

LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Melbourne encourages families to enjoy a world of creativity, colour and brick-building fun in Australia’s ultimate indoor LEGO® playground. The attraction’s features include leading local landmarks made from 1.5 million LEGO bricks in MINILAND Melbourne, fun and exciting LEGO themed rides, a 4D Cinema and a LEGO Friends at Heartlake City play zone.
