AUSTRALIA’S FIRST LEGOLAND® DISCOVERY CENTRE BREAKS GROUND IN MELBOURNE

Located inside Australia’s leading shopping centre, Chadstone – The Fashion Capital, the Discovery Centre will be the ultimate indoor LEGO® playground.
Representatives from LEGOLAND Discovery Centre and Chadstone co-owners, Vicinity Centres and the Gandel Group, will be joined by students from Malvern Valley Primary School to officially kick off construction with a ceremonial dig of more than 50,000 LEGO bricks, dropped on site by a front-end loader dump truck.
Merlin Entertainments plc Divisional Director Rob Smith said “with the start of construction, families from Melbourne, Victoria and Australia are one step closer to jumping into the biggest box of LEGO bricks in the country.
The Discovery Centre will provide a unique opportunity to bring children’s imagination’s to life and learn through play in a world of creativity and colour. We anticipate LEGOLAND Discovery Centre to be among Australia’s most popular attractions, and we are committed to making the experience hassle-free and fun for all families.
More than two million bricks will be laid to build the indoor attraction, planned to house a number of LEGO themed zones for kids and their families including an interactive LEGO laser ride, a MINILAND with iconic Melbourne buildings and landmarks, a Merlin’s Apprentice ride and a 4D cinema.
CEO and Managing Director of Vicinity Centres, Angus McNaughton, said that Chadstone is looking forward to housing Australia's first LEGOLAND Discovery Centre as part of the shopping precinct's expansion.
McNaughton said, "We are excited to help facilitate the build of the first LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in the Southern Hemisphere, and creating a fantastic destination for families.” The introduction of world-class concepts like LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, are pushing the boundaries that have historically defined the shopping centre experience.”
